EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

There are a number of sports facilities available to students on and off campus. A state-of-the-art weight room is available on campus, along with a ping-pong table and basketball court. The Yeshiva also makes use of a professional basketball court in the neighborhood.

TIYULIM

Students travel the length and breadth of the country on tiyulim. There are two major trips in Fall and Spring and at least one 1-day tiyul per month. Discovery (2 days), Chassidic experience, Yad VaShem, the Diaspora Museum and many tours of the Old City of Jerusalem also feature in the diverse tiyul schedule.

CULTURAL ACTIVITIES/CHUGIM

Tiyulim to educational institutions are arranged periodically. These include places such as the tefillin and matzah factory, as well as the wineries in the North. Matzah baking, siyumim by talmidim, numerous chagigot at the home of the Rosh HaYeshiva and other Rabbeim, Yom Ha'atzmaut and Yom Yerushalayim celebrations are all examples of other activities offered to students.

CHAGIM/SHABBAT

The monthly Shabbos rotation includes 1 Shabbat in Yeshiva, 1 Shabbaton (weekend program off campus) and 1 Shabbat "free." Placement assistance is provided for students on "free" Shabboses as well as meals available at the Yeshiva.

SPECIAL PROGRAMS

Tuesday nights, instead of regular evening seder, the Yeshiva has vaadim with the YSMZ Kollel members. Groups of 10 or 15 students are each invited to the home of a Kollel member to eat and schmooze for an hour or two. This gives students an opportunity to discuss any issues or problems with his peers and with the Kollel member.

Thursday nights, on a rotation basis, various Rabbeim give a shiur clali to the entire Yeshiva.

STUDENT POPULATION

Over 100 students from Yeshiva high schools all over North America, England, Australia, New Zealand and various European countries attend Yeshivat Sha'arei Mevaseret Zion. These students are a group of serious and fine young men engaged in Torah study in an atmosphere of camaraderie.

HEALTH CARE

All students are insured with comprehensive medical/hospitalization insurance, which is included as part of the base tuition. Doctors are available in close proximity to the campus, as well as a short drive away in one of Jerusalem's most reputable medical centers.

COLLEGE CREDIT AND CERTIFICATION

Yeshivat Sha'arei Mevaseret Zion is a member of the Yeshiva University's Joint
Israel Program and Touro College Israel Option. Students who are not registered
in either of these programs will receive Sha'arei Mevaseret transcripts,
which have been recognized by many colleges and universities. We also offer
an accredited teachers training program, in conjunction with the Meretz Kollel.
Students who successfully complete this program receive a Certificate for Torah
Education in the Diaspora from the Ministry of Education of the State of Israel.
