5 Elul 5771 - MMY's new building in Baka officially opened its doors.
Even as the cleaning crews and maintenance workers were putting the final touches on the building, mezuzot were hung (under Rabbi Lerner's careful direction, and Rabbi Haber's daughter Sara's expert handiwork) and the first talmidot moved in!
The group flight arrived on Monday evening, and after a few hours of unpacking and settling in, we enjoyed a pizza dinner, heard a very short welcoming shiur and went to the Kotel for the first time as a group, where Rabbi Haber and Rabbi Katz spoke to the girls.
Tuesday and Wednesday morning were devoted to orientation sessions, and on Wednesday afternoon we had an amazing tiyul including a hike through the forest, a short "mini-shiur" from a beautiful lookout point on the historic Tel Azeka (we saw where the battle between David and Goliat took place, and learned that perek right on location), and from there to a beautiful beach near Ashdod. The beach was amazing! The girls ate a picnic dinner, played some really fun icebreaker games to get to know each other, and some went in the water.
And on Thursday morning we began our regular classes and started preparing for our first in-Shabbat.
Below are the very first photos of this exciting new era in MMY's history!
