It is with tremendous excitement that we share with you the plans for MMY's upcoming year - our 18th! Registration for our Chai class is full and larger than average and thus we have expanded the faculty ranks to best meet the needs of our incoming students.

Rabbi Anthony Manning has been appointed as "Senior Rav Mechanech" and will be more than tripling his classes and time spent in MMY. Rabbi Manning hails from London, England (a wonderful added benefit for our 14 British students joining the class of 5774) and has an MA in Law from Oxford University. About 10 years ago Rabbi Manning decided to make aliyah and at the same time decided that teaching Torah was his real passion. He joined the faculty of MMY 2 years ago as a Hilchot Shabbat teacher and now joins the administration in his expanded role. He will continue to teach his very popular Hilchot Shabbat class along with beginners Gemara and other exciting classes! Rabbi Manning will also be coordinating several educational projects, tiyulim, etc. The Mannings have 2 children and currently live in Har Nof.

Eis Mrs. Atara Eis is an MMY alumna herself from the class of 5760. She holds a B.A. from Yeshiva University's Stern College in Judaic Studies and an Associate Degree in Music, as well as an M.S. from its Azrieli Graduate School for Jewish Education. She completed the YU Graduate Program in Advanced Talmudic Studies for Women and then studied at Nishmat's Keren Ariel Halachic Institute in Jerusalem to become a Yoetzet Halacha. Mrs. Eis is currently the director of Nishmat's Yoetzet Halacha Training Program in the NY/NJ area and she herself serves as a Yoetzet Halacha up and down the eastern seaboard of the USA. She is also a beloved teacher and Israel Guidance Counselor in the Kohelet High School in Philadelphia. She was selected by The Jewish Week as one of "36 under 36. Mrs. Eis and her family will be making aliyah this summer and will be living in Efrat.

Raviv Rabbi Chagai Raviv returns to the Mevaseret family after a five year hiatus for shlichut (in Cleveland) and will be joining the staff of our brother school, Yeshivat Shaarei Mevaseret Zion (YSMZ) , as its Rosh Bet Medrash and will live on the YSMZ campus. Rav Chagai, as he is affectionately known, will be a major faculty member in MMY's afternoon program as well. Rav Chagai adds an Israeli flavor to MMY and teaches his shiurim exclusively in his native Hebrew. He grew up in Petach Tikva, and is a graduate of Yeshivat Sha'alvim. Recently he served as the Head of the American Program in the Yeshivat Hesder in Petach Tikva and as Rosh Yeshiva of Fuchs Mizrachi High School in Cleveland, Ohio. Before his shlichut he served as the Rabbi of the Daati Leumi community of Ramat Shalom in Bet Shemesh. During this time he also served as a Rabbi in the IDF. With twenty years of experience working with English-speaking students, Rav Chagai is well known for building strong lifelong connections.

apefelRabbi Dr. Howard Apfel will also be joining our staff and teaching two courses. Rabbi Dr. Apfel is currently a board certified pediatric cardiologist at Columbia University Medical Center and also a maggid shiur in Yeshivat Torat Shraga. Previously, Rabbi Dr. Apfel taught bioethics courses at the Yeshiva University Gruss Kollel in Jerusalem, at Touro College Landers College for Men and has given a shiur on Hilchot Shabbat as it relates to physicians at the Yeshiva University Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Apfel has published extensively on contemporary halacha related articles and is considered an expert in the field of Jewish medical ethics, which is one of the courses he will be teaching in MMY. B'ezrat Hashem his daughter, Mrs. Avigayil Teller, will also be joining our staff for the spring semester, and, in a first for MMY, we will have a father, a daughter and a father in law/Mechutan as well all on the faculty. (MMY trivia - what two other times did we have a father and a daughter on the faculty at the same time? This is a first as we also have the father in law/Mechutan - Rabbi Hanoch Teller!)

fundRabbi Yitzchak Fund is a prominent leader in the Anglo religious community in Israel and is a partner in Jaffe, Fund & Co, a Jerusalem law firm. Among his community affiliations, Rabbi Fund serves as President and Chairman of OU Israel and as a Senior Vice President of the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America. He served for many years as Chairman of the executive board of Machon Lander, an academic college in Jerusalem. Rabbi Fund's daily experiences give him a valuable perspective on legal and moral issues of Bein Adam L'chaveiro, an area so often deemed , sadly, as secondary in one's religious personality. Rabbi Fund will be sharing those perspectives, as well as his understanding of the Torah's view of these real life dilemmas, through a hashkafic and halachic prism.

We welcome all of the new faculty members (or expanded faculty members) to the MMY family (or back to the MMY family) and we look forward to great things.
